About Lorna

I am the barefoot child sitting on a pile of fresh cut lumber ready to be used in the building of the family home. The picture was taken in the 1950’s in rural Canada and I keep it on my desk to remind me every day that everything was still possible for that child, just as everything is still possible for me today, if only I believe it. I am a middle child in a family of 6 children and I fell naturally into the roles of pleaser and negotiator. It took many years for me to learn that I must please myself first, and that it is sometimes best to let others fight their own battles.

I worked for 25 years as a scientific research assistant in the environmental field. The times that I spent outdoors while getting paid were glorious for me, regardless of the weather. I spent the summers working on lakes and rivers, and the winters analyzing the endless samples that were collected. I authored scientific papers and made presentations at international conferences. While chemistry and physics played a large role in my life, it was my role as mentor to a steady stream of students that I loved the most. I was a life coach long before I had ever heard the term.

My strong scientific background and experience has grounded me in common sense, but has not closed my mind to all the possibilities that cannot be measured by standard means. I depend on my intuition and I measure by results. I naturally take the middle ground between extremes. I believe that science and spirituality must and will merge and our understanding of the world and of the nature of humanity will expand greatly.

I married young and was blessed with two wonderful children. I was an entrepreneur, an earth mother, an adventurer and an experimenter. When my 27 year marriage ended, I began a curious process of spiritual maturation while returning to my child state. I took my scientific spirit to a new level and investigated the spiritual side of life. I became a Reiki Master, and satisfied my curiosity through shamanism workshops, yoga, native healing rituals, and anything else I felt drawn to. I became the experimenter and the experiment, and the effects were glorious and positive. I learned that it is OK, and even essential, to have compassion for myself first. I replaced the words “work, hard, and struggle” with “play, flow, and adventure” People started talking about my glow. Strangers looked at me as if they knew me. My cousins commented that I was becoming the Lorna they knew as a child. My inner child is my inner glow. Wonderful things happen when that child is out there enjoying the adventure of living!

I am remarried and have gained a wonderful new life partner and three special step-children. The good things in my life keep multiplying ! I retired from my first career to pursue a new path and graduated from CoachU in 2003. I now live on the beautiful west coast of Canada and I daily revel in the beauty of trees and water and mountains. My passion for nature is equaled by my passion for people, because I have seen how beautiful is the soul that resides in all of us.
